The under 10s were in action in the Cup Semi Final at home to Coundon Court. Unfortunately, Keeley was unable to play as she was "cup tied" and Alice's arm injury meant that Maisie had to take Alice's place in goal and Alice started in midfield.

Leafield began brightly with early chances for both Inez and Amy. It was 10 minutes into the game that Leafield made the first breakthrough when Alice passed the ball to Inez who calmly hit the ball past the Coundon keeper. Leafield continued to press forward creating chances and it wasn't long before Amy got on the end of a good pass from Inez to find the Coundon goal. Despite the away side creating chances, Maisie stood strong in the Leafield goal to deny them a scoring opportunity. Just before half time a well worked move between Inez and Alice saw Alice break through the Coundon defence and calmly slot the ball past the keeper to give Leafield a 3-0 advantage at half time.

 

In the second half Chloe moved up into midfield and Alice dropped back into defence. 5 minutes into the half Chloe got onto the end of a corner from Amy and finished well to increase Leafield's advantage. The home side then stepped up the pace and started to pressurise the Coundon defence with Amy and Inez working well together up front and each grabbing a couple of goals. Chloe then made a solo run and shot which was well saved by the Coundon keeper but she followed up on the rebound to increase Leafield's advantage to 9.

 

 

 

 

Coundon didn't give up and had scoring chances, hitting the post and forcing some good saves from Maisie who played well in goal. Just before the final whistle, a great kick from Maisie found Amy in space in the Coundon half who finished well to get Leafield into double figures and ensure their passage into the cup final.
A great performance from all the girls who adjusted well to the positional changes that Alice's injury forced them to make.
